Q2 cuffs

Analyse how far the extract depicts the police's point of view rather than the criminals point of view.

In Cuffs you can tell the program depicts the polices point of view instead of the criminals because if theirs any illegal activity it only shows small bits of what the criminals are doing but it shows the police before hand, during and after the incident. Also it shows the police as recurring characters where as the criminals are only in one and maybe two episodes.

Also we see the polices personal life so we get to connect with them and are able to care about what there doing but with the criminals we dont know what there backstory is and whats going on in there personal life so we dont really care for the criminals. This means we can grow a relationship and identity with the good guys.

Exam Q1

Diegetic sound (siren noise from police car)
Background music in cafe (add realism)
Civis talking in background (add realism)

In the extract they use diegetic sound which in this scene is the siren noise to add intensity, theres also music playing from the cafe and Civis talking to make it seem realistic by mirroring the sounds of the real world. This helps make the TV show feel likes its part of the real world and makes it realistic so people can get the feel of what it is like to be a police officer.

Also theres music playing when the men are robbing the store but when it cuts back to the police officers eating it shows how much tension in both scenes. In the robbing scene the music shows a lot of tension where as the scene with the police in the cafe has only music playing from the cafe which is quiet which shows very low tension but when they get a call in on the radio some intense music plays to show the tension rising.

Question 8

The dark blue at the top shows that the news is quite upper class and grownup because the color is a bit posh. This could attract older people which means the news is quite serious with mainly politics and problems in the world. There's also bergandy which is also quite a posh color. Also the background is white which would let the other colors stand out so people are concentrated on the articles because the color is only on the articles.
The text of the title is more modern so it could also pull younger readers in but the text in the article is older so the letters like curve so people can flow through the words easier without getting lost. This could make it easier for older people who are reading incase they loose there place alot if they have bad vision.
All the articles are quite close and they are in an ordily fashion which makes it look smart which could apeal to higher class people and safisticated people. Also if there close once someone finished one article they will probably go straight onto the one below or next to it. The articles are a mix of first and third person. For example one article title says "Can i forgive the man...." and another one says something about a man making a movie. I think this is good because if theres an article which is opinion based it could be first person to make you agree with them .
